Wendy Valerio is Professor of Music Education, Director of Student Teaching, and Director of the Children's Music Development Center (CMDC) at the University of South Carolina School of Music where she teaches graduate and undergraduate music methods courses, conducts early childhood music development research. She is a past chair of NAfME Early Childhood Special Research Interest Group and her work is featured in scholarly forums including Arts Education Policy Review, Journal for Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Learning from Young Children: Research in Early Childhood Music (2011), Listen to Their Voices, Research to Practice: A Biennial Series. Volume 3 (2007). She is co-author of Music Play (GIA, 1998 & revision in press), and Jump Right In: The Music Series (GIA, 2000-present), is a member of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning Faculty (Early Childhood and Elementary), and a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. Prior to her graduate studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, Valerio received a BME degree from Baker University and taught elementary music in Lawrence, KS.
