Oct. 1 - Audition Registration - Late Deadline #3 - $100 per audition
Oct. 1 - Auditions @ Rose Hill HS
Nov. 8 - Clinics & Concerts @ Goddard HS - $15 participation fee per selected student

Audition Registration
Auditions must be registered in the KMEA Members site.

Fees
Use the SCKMEA Invoice Generator to create your fee invoices. An invoice print-out must be included with each payment. Make checks payable to South Central KMEA.

Participation Eligibility Requirements
There are two requirements for a student to be eligible to audition for SCKMEA District Jazz Band membership:

1. The student's director will register each audition online and send the Audition payment to the SCKMEA Executive Director. These must be completed by the deadline established by SCKMEA.
2. The student must be deemed an eligible freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing in their high school.

Audition Excerpts
SCKMEA Jazz Band will use the KMEA All-State Jazz audition excerpts - ksmea.org/hsjazz/excerpts

Students will play etude 1 and 3, with etude 1 at a reduced tempo (strive for 180 bpm). Etude 2 will be cut, except for the optional lead trumpet and bass bone auditions.

Winds

1. Chromatic
2. Etude #1 (reduce tempo to 170 - 180 BPM)
3. Etude #3 * (with improv)
4. Sight Reading (Optional Lead Trumpet, and Bass Trombone will still be scored from Etude #2) *door monitors need to ask each Trumpet or Trombone audition for this distinction.
